“So Green, It’s Yellow!”
What is the Yellow Shelf Project? In the summer of 2012 we began the next iteration of our Yellow Shelf Project. It’s a map/listing of places in Portland that seeks and promotes local businesses that provide waste-free options to patrons. For example, a café prides itself on its house-made potato chips. Can they offer these in bulk (as in you bring your own bag or sealed containers) for small and large events? Another coffee shop/bar trains its staff on waste-reducing (and money saving) customer service and incentives so that fewer single-use plastics, like lids, straws and stirrers, are used on a daily basis. Some businesses are capable of going “green” and catering to the “green” conscious and they just need to learn how close they are to being on our Yellow Shelf Project listing map!
If you own or are aware of any establishment that should be listed, enter it in our form linked here. We will contact the business about being added to the map and be promoted by Create Plenty and our partners. It’s a free listing with a growing audience of folks who will want to use it for their waste-free purchases of all kinds!
Be sure to come back to the Yellow Shelf Project Map as you discover potential waste-free businesses!
