About this piece: I found the plastic monkey in the street while going for a walk so I created the art piece around him. I have participated in the Plastic Challenges and plastic quilt art shows since the beginning. The spiral image is a recurring theme in my plastic work. In this case it symbolizes the out of control spiraling of plastic use, particularly the plastic waste on our streets, in our landfills and in our oceans. My art piece, “Monkey Business,” is made from plastic food bags, plastic buttons and the aforementioned plastic monkey (which I believe came from a Barrel of Monkeys game).
